Milla's body

Milla's body was found buried under a tree in the woods. The discovery of her body allows for all of those impacted by her disappearance to begin to heal and find closure.

Leopold

Leopold is a dog but also a symbol depicting the interior thoughts of Jon. In fact, many times Jon reflects that the dog embarrasses him, and that he is uncontrollable. Jon sees other pet owners and wonders at the good manners of their pets when his own pet is so unruly and rude.

Later, when he has begun to patch things up with Siri Leopold 'miraculously' begins to mind and Jon finds a sort of peace in taking Leopold on morning walks with him. In the end, Leopold dies of old age, and Jon determines to be a better man, father, and husband.
