Laurent: Judgment of the Queen Summary

Although Laurent has seen other slaves released, he is very upset to see Beauty return to her realm. After she is gone, the slaves are bound, sitting with their hands behind their back and their wrists tied to their ankles. Then he realizes that they are rebels because they rebelled at being rescued. They are carried through the Village and the Marketplace to the Palace and presented to the Queen for judgment. The Queen asks who Lexius is and why he is present before her. The Captain of the Guard tells the Queen of his refusal to save himself. The Queen inspects Lexius who begs to serve her, and she decides to sentence him to two weeks in the kitchen before allowing him to be brought to her chamber as her personal slave.
