Chapter 6 Summary
Because Cameryn is silent during the ride to Durango while she thinks about Rachel, Patrick advises her that she must learn to detach in order to survive, and she can do that by remembering that the only chance of obtaining justice for the victim is by doing their job right; this is the last and only thing Cameryn can do for Rachel now. Ben Short, the pathologist's assistant, objects to Cameryn's presence, but after Patrick explains that she is his assistant, he warns them that Dr. Moore will not like it. While Ben X-rays Rachel's body, Patrick asks how Cameryn is holding up, and she tells him that it is hard because she is blown away by the process and then feels like she has been punched in the gut as she remembers Rachel was only a year older than she is and...
