Summary
In “The Disappearance, Day Seven, Friday, December 10, 1926,” word of Agatha’s disappearance spread throughout the country. Mystery writers paid particular attention to the story.
Meanwhile, Nan and Finbarr remained at the Timeless Manor. They talked more about their future.
Upstairs, Agatha wrote “on her typewriter” while considering if she should “turn herself in” (193). She decided to stay at Timeless Manor, convinced Chilton would “keep her secret” (194).
Chilton was happy remembering his and Agatha’s kiss. At the hotel, he kept Mr. and Mrs. Race’s argument from turning violent by offering Mrs. Race a cigarette. They briefly discussed the Marstons.
Agatha liked the Timeless Manor’s energy. She was also glad to escape into her writing. She stopped longing for Archie and began wondering about a new future, possibly “married to a police inspector” (198).
