Part III: Chapters 22 - 30 Summary

In Chapter 22, Seth and Sam meet in Seth's apartment. Alevy tells Sam that three hundred pilots are being held prisoner at the Charm School. The prisoners are used as "instructors" at the Charm School, training Russian KGB operatives. Over the course of about a year, the Russians learn to talk, think, and act like Americans. Seth says that roughly two thousand Charm School graduates have already infiltrated U.S. society The Kellums, a middle-aged couple presumably from Milwaukee, are believed to be KGB spies. The Kellums work as custodians at the U.S. embassy in Moscow. Seth makes Sam promise not to divulge what Seth has told him about the Charm School. Both men, now very drunk, go onto the roof of Seth's apartment building and trade obscenities with the KGB agents who are watching them from...
