Summary
In Section V, the conditions of the battlefield are mentioned again, with cannons besieging the Light Brigade soldiers in every direction. As a result of the attack, “horse and hero fell” (44). Those who “fought so well” (45) and who manage to survive return intact from the “jaws of Death” (46). Again, the speaker emphasizes that this is not the original “six hundred” (49), but only “all that was left” (48).
In the final Section VI, the speaker muses on the “glory” (50) of the soldiers of the Light Brigade, suggesting that it will never “fade” (50). The “wild charge” (51) they made has caused “all the world” (52) to wonder about their fates. The speaker calls upon everyone to “honour” (53) the Light Brigade, composed of its “noble six hundred” soldiers (55).
