Summary
In Chapter 15, Cora arrives to pick up Louise from her class. She is still feeling the pain of her meeting with Mary O’Dell. She hopes to avoid a confrontation with Louise. Louise greets Cora excitedly, saying she was the only student selected to join the Denishawn troupe. Ruth St. Denis speaks to Cora, explaining how Louise will join the company on a trial trip to Philadelphia the next day, and if she can prove her conduct worthy, she will be made an official member. The pair goes to the luncheonette to celebrate, where Louise spends the time flirting with Floyd. Cora, still annoyed, ignores them until they begin whispering, at which point Cora forces them to leave.
At the apartment, Louise attempts to provoke Cora by discussion Prohibition. Cora ignores these attempts and falls asleep to dreams of Alan and Raymond flirting...
