Summary
Apollo ventured toward the only forest in New York City to find his wife and child, but made a pit stop at a nearby Starbucks. There, he overhead an old man reciting lines from Outside Over There. Apollo followed him to an upper middle-class area, where the old man offered up the Starbucks bag to the top of a staircase leading to an apartment.
Apollo bunkered down with his suitcase and watched the old man, accidentally tripping and falling onto the sidewalk, where two police officers spotted him as they drove by. They exited their squad car and told him to stay on the ground. “Any urge he might have to argue hid itself away deep inside” (334). Then Emma, whom Apollo calls “a witch” (334) stepped from the woods and stole away with the Starbucks bag. The two police officers gave Apollo a MetroCard to...
