Summary

Chapter 63 reverts to the past. Ginger began to use anonymous letters to punish people, including a teacher who gave her a bad grade. Tom promised to be a better father after Cheryl's death, but quickly reverted to his brutal, drunken state. On the anniversary of Cheryl's death, Tom beat Ginger (still called Margaret) for eating all the meatloaf. One night, the twins put Tom's service weapon in his mouth while he was drunk and pulled the trigger. They staged the scene to look like a suicide, including a letter Ginger wrote, having practiced her father's handwriting. The twins were briefly dropped in foster care before being handed over to their grandfather, Daniel, who said they should call him Red.
