Shift To The Machine Summary
Dr. Gerrigel pulls out his Handbook of Robotics and begins a series of questions. They are simple and concise, and the doctor concludes that Daneel is perfectly equipped with the First Law. Lije is not in the least bit satisfied. If Daneel had been equipped with the First Law at the shoe store it would thrown him into some sort of neurosis afterwards. However, he is fine. Dr. Gerrigel finds this odd, but Daneel disagrees. He instructs Lije to open his blaster. Daneel is not carrying an armed weapon. The simple reason he carries the blaster is to fit in as a Plain Clothes man. The investigation against Daneel is once again over.
