Summary
The play’s prologue opens with a discussion between two collective farms as to who should occupy a particular valley. The Collective Goat Farm Rosa Luxemburg, who was ordered to evacuate the land as Nazi tanks advanced, had settled nearby; Collective Fruit Farm Galinsk, many of whom fought on behalf of their countrymen and women, had begun to settle in the region after the conflict. The member’s of the Collective Goat Farm Rosa Luxemburg argue that the land on which their goats now graze is infertile, and they bring a wheel of goat cheese to prove their point “…you can’t like it [the cheese].
