Chapter 10 Summary

In Chapter 10, Qwill spends a sleepless night, worrying about the dinner party and the fact that Tiffany's murder could mean he is on the right track. Arch warns him that he may be on someone's hit list. In the morning, Amanda calls to tell Qwill that she will find a new painter because Steve was Tiffany's husband. Furthermore, the chief of police believes Tiffany was killed by a tourist, a sniper with a high-powered rifle. As Qwill and Arch walk downtown, they visit the "Picayune", the local newspaper office, before going to the attorneys' office where Qwill asks Penelope about Tiffany's murder. He suggests establishing a scholarship as a memorial. Penelope seems very edgy during the conversation. When Qwill returns home, there is an unfamiliar truck in the driveway. It belongs to Steve's cousin who will resume painting while the police are questioning...
