Chapter 6 Summary

Carrie talks about the boyfriends she has had in the past. One thing that Carrie notices is that none of them is very intelligent. One of the boys she dates, Doug Haskell, is on the basketball team. He tries to get her to give him oral sex. When she refuses, she thinks he'll leave her alone, but instead he keeps pursuing her. He comes by her house after school on the following Monday, saying they need to talk. He drives her out into the country, saying they're going to the "gun tree," which is a tree shaped by a lightning strike into the shape of a pistol. On the way there, Carrie thinks Doug might rape or kill her, so she veers the car off the dirt road, ditches the car, and Doug and walks home. Carrie turns the story into a funny...
