Summary
In “Lulu the Spy, 2032,” Lulu worked as a secret infiltration agent. Her company gave her a set of strict rules for how to behave. She was assigned a Designated Mate, and told to pose as his lover. The Designated Mates were always criminals, whose lives upon which she was supposed to report. She had to practice the Dissociation Technique in order to get close to them. Throughout her one assignment, she often thought of her husband, longing to be with him again. She had to force herself to “lose track of what [was] happening” for survival (200). This was particularly the case during sexual intimacy. The goal was “to become part of his atmosphere” so as to avoid detection (201).
