Part 2, Men of Science: Chapters 8-13 Summary
In chapter eight, Fairhaven is having breakfast when he comes across Smithback's article about Leng, an article that clearly accuses Fairhaven's company, The Moegen-Fairhaven Group, of breaking a New York law that forces the shutdown of construction when an archeological site is discovered. Fairhaven begins making phone calls, starting with the mayor.
In chapter nine, Doreen Hollander, a tourist from Oaklahoma, becomes lost in Central Park on her way to the Metropolitan Museum and is abducted by an unseen assailant.
In chapter ten, Collopy sits behind his desk contemplating his legacy with the Museum. Collopy has also seen the article in the New York Times and he calls Brisbane to tell him how the Museum would be handling it.
