Chapters 17-20 Summary
In chapter seventeen, the FBI continues to follow the bribe money as it moves from Grand Cayman to Singapore to Saint Christopher. At the same time in Italy, Backman meets with Francesca in the Basilica di San Francesco. Francesca gives Backman the tour in Italian, forcing him to practice his vocabulary. Afterward ,they visit two towers that are the only remaining towers from a time in which it was quite a statement for a family to live in one. In Virginia, Neal receives a letter from his father asking for a device to email with and money. Neal reads the letter multiple times, unsure of what he wants to do.
In chapter eighteen, Dan Sandberg, a journalist, gets wind of the FBI investigation into a bribe paid for pardons and contacts Rusty Lowell with the CIA to find out the true...
