Odense
Odense was the town where the Pedersen family lived until Knud and Jens were teenagers. In 1940, Odense was occupied by the German soldiers, who swarmed the town with tens of thousands of soldiers. Some Odense residents were sympathetic to the Germans, and, if not sympathetic, used the opportunity to make more money. Odense was the city where the boys' first resistance club sprang up.
Copenhagen
As an adult, Knud Pedersen left the towns of his youth -- Odense and Aalborg -- and built a life in art in Denmark's capital, Copenhagen. There, he became a painter as he had intended and created a successful life in art. He and his wife, Bodil, also created an Art Library -- a lending library of artistic works -- and Denmark's internationally successful European Film College.
