Summary

In Chapter 16, “First Hours of Freedom,” it is 1944, and Knud and Jens are finally released from prison. Jens has taken his university admission tests and is headed to university. On their first night of freedom, the boys are treated to a feast that eventually makes them sick. They also learned what happened to the members of the RAF Club. Those club members had attacked an auto plant, setting it on fire and causing a massive explosion. After that, one RAF Club member, believing that the Danish authorities would help the members enlist in the British forces, revealed their involvement with the crime.
