Summary
In Chapter 27, Keith graduated from law school in May of 1973. He moved back home to join his father’s law firm.
The trial for the state versus Ginger was finally set. After Oliphant gave Jesse and Burch the jury list, Burch passed it on to Dubisson who gave it to Lance. Owners of the clubs worked together to identify prospective jurors.
After Oliphant adjourned court one afternoon, Jesse found a white envelope under his car’s windshield wiper. A note inside indicated a juror, Joe Nunzio had been paid $2,000 to vote not guilty. Jesse decided to do nothing about the note because he had no proof that it was legitimate.
After almost two days of deliberations, the jury was still divided 9-3. The foreman reported that further deliberation would be of no use. Oliphant declared a mistrial.
