Book 2 Chapter 24 Summary

St. Jacques tells Bourne about General Villiers. He is currently one of the ranking members of the National Assembly. He previously broke with the government over the split with Algeria. He was part of a group called OAS who fought in Algeria. They believed Algeria was legally part of France and had a right to split away. Villiers split with the government when they withdrew from Algeria and granted them independence. After many years, Villiers returned to France and reconciled. He left the army and was elected to the National Assembly after his son was murdered. His son was also a politician and was believed to have been killed by Communist members of the government after opposing their legislation.
