Point of View
The novel is told in the third person point of view and mostly follows Nina. However, the narrator does occasionally jump to other characters to explain what they are thinking when interacting with Nina. This is most prevalent with Tom, as the narrator will often jump back and forth between the two when they are talking to exemplify how much they like each other but are unable to say it. However, the narrator themselves also acts as a vocal character for a majority of the novel, sometimes even speaking to the audience directly. However, this humor is toned down from the midpoint of the novel until Nina handles her crippling panic attack. This is to maintain a serious tone during the most important parts of Nina’s life, as well as the most important parts of the message the author wants to convey.
