During the summer of 1942 Hans Hubermann suddenly has work again. The people of Molching need to darken their windows as the threat of air raids becomes a reality. Hans has so many jobs that he runs out of black paint with which to cover the windows. As a result, Hans begins mixing odd colors to make a close replica of black.
