Summary

The sixth chapter is titled “Water/Boston.” Dawn relates several of the folktales her mother told, including one that demonstrates how much love can hurt. Dawn and Brian try to act normally in front of Meret and Dawn occasionally forgets that they have been arguing. She sleeps in the third bedroom of their home, which serves as an office where she sometimes sleeps when her job makes her sleeping hours erratic. One day, Dawn and Win visit an art gallery and discuss the various kinds of art. Win was an artist and she talks about the need to “feel” the art. Dawn knows Brian is wary of anything that manipulates feelings, including art. He feels only things that can be quantified are legitimate.
