Summary
The next chapter is titled “Land/Egypt” and opens with Dawn having a dream about an experiment Brian is doing that has an adverse effect on her. She wakes to realize Wyatt is banging on her door at 4:30 in the morning. She remembers that Dumphries always said they were rising at “the ass crack of dawn” (152), before quantifying that, saying it was “no relation” to Dawn. She arrives at the breakfast table and worries that she will be of no help, considering the current technology. Joe provides her with supplies, including an iPad. At the tomb, Wyatt directs Dawn to a newly-cleared wall and instructs her to begin making drawings of the hieroglyphics. She is again amazed at how the technology has changed the process. She struggles at first, then begins to work more instinctively. It is painstaking and wonderful.
