Summary
Catherine did not begin attending school until she was seven years old. She struggled in school and was immediately behind all of her classmates due to her delayed start. Catherine’s mother had once aspired to be a dancer. She put Catherine in ballet classes. Due to a childhood illness, one of Catherine’s legs was shorter than the other. This fact made dancing somewhat difficult for her, but Catherine enjoyed ballet and persevered. Jacqueline eventually began teaching dance lessons herself, and Catherine was one of her students. Sometimes, when Catherine’s stepfather Henri traveled for work, Jacqueline and Catherine went with him in order to attend dance workshops abroad. Catherine lived with her mother and stepfather in Montreuil, a suburb of Paris. One day, when Catherine was a teenager, she learned that her biological father, Serge, lived in a different suburb of Paris...
