Summary

In Part 5, Chapter III, Jesse calls and tells her co-workers not to come in because of the red rain. The rain is limited to Thornfield because “the curse was Thornfield’s alone” (314). A friend of Ian’s calls and tells Ian what is happening because a “red cloud of illness” (315) is overhead. Ian drops Margaret off at the inn to help. Ian goes to the manor house and collapses in a room covered in the red rain. Sally arrives at the inn and finds Kylie. Kylie tells her mother that Tom has cursed everyone, including Kylie, who is burning up with a fever.
