Summary
Part III opens a recording just after Max meets Ursula's group. They were wary of her at first, especially when she revealed she had been Shadowless for 16 days. Only when Max read the words 'New Orleans' painted on the side of the van did they let her join.
In the present, Ory wakes up with memories of fighting the men and continues on.
In another recording, Max says she felt lonely before Ursula's group. She does not blame Ory, but says he could not understand how difficult it is to hold onto her memories. All of Ursula's group have lost their Shadows and Max shares everything she knows about each person. She also explains that the group is headed to New Orleans, but only she can read the map. A second man, Zachary, draws things to help them remember. Eventually, Ursula explains...
