Summary
In "Alexandria: Lake Mareotis, Egypt 28 - 30 CE," as Ana and Yaltha arrived in Alexandria, Yaltha identified all the impressive monuments and sights for Ana. Statues of Winged Isis and the roof of the library impressed her.
At Haran's, Ana convinced him to let them stay. Though Haran was reluctant to extend favor to Yaltha, he agreed, provided the women did not leave the house and Yaltha did not search for her daughter. They would pay Haran rent, and Ana would work as his scribe.
With time, Ana grew accustomed to working for Haran. To distract herself from fear, she "started filling the time by reading [her] stories to Yaltha and Lavi" (357). Lavi invited Haran's servant, Pamphile, to listen too. Noticing Yaltha's depression, Ana encouraged her to search for Chaya. Together, they drugged, Haran’s other scribe, Thaddeus, and searched...
