Annabelle and Benny's Home

Annabelle and Benny's home is one of the novel's primary settings. The home is a duplex, adjoined to the apartment in which their landlord and her son reside. Throughout the novel, the home becomes increasingly filled with junk. Annabelle not only acquires an endless number of new material possessions, she refuses to throw away the things she already has. The house's cluttered state is a constant source of stress for Benny. When social services notices the mess, they tell Annabelle she has to clean up or Benny will be placed into foster care.

In the latter chapters of the book, Annabelle finally declutters with the help of Tidy Magic, Cory and her friends. Benny returns home from the ward and encourages his mother to get rid of the last of Kenji's belongings in order to fully heal from his passing.
