Summary
After another entry in The Book of Dead Birds with an entry that Ava gave her from school with how one refers to groupings of birds. Her mother had focused on the way one refers to a group of crows, “A murder of crows” (150).
The narrative continues from Ava’s point of view. The day after her arrival, Ava wakes up to the smell of her mother’s soup and her mother is surprised to hear that Ava is teaching the self-defense classes. She decides to go with her.
