Claire Lake, Oregon

Claire Lake, Oregon is the city in which the majority of the action of this novel takes place. Shea has lived in Claire Lake all her life. Beth also has lived in Claire Lake her entire life. Lily kills two random men on the road near Claire Lake after they stop to help her because they believe she is having car trouble. After Beth kills Lily, she dumps her body on the nonresidential side of Claire Lake with the hope that no one will find the skeleton.

Greer Mansion

The Greer mansion is the house where Beth has lived her entire life. The house is described as ugly. It is also haunted by the ghosts of Mariana and Lily, qualifying it as the sort of residence found in Gothic literature.
