Summary

In Chapter 16, set in October 1977, Ransom was present during her next interview with the police. Beth remembered Black begging her to tell the truth because they wanted to help her. Beth told him that no one wanted to help her. When the detectives asked Beth about her father’s gun Ransom said the interview was over. He believed the detectives were bullying Beth, but Beth did not feel threatened at all.

In Chapter 17, set in September 2017, Sylvia Bledsoe, Julian’s former secretary, agreed to talk to Shea for only ten minutes. She would not allow Shea to record the conversation.
