Chapter 29 – His Parting from Her

The explosion blew Paige across the room. Nick grabbed her and pulled her toward the door. She was worried about the Warden. She tried to connect to him through the golden cord – but there was nothing. Paige figured that Julian might have set off the explosion. On their way to the train, Paige and Nick had to fight off several Rephs, including the vicious Aludra who was attacked by an Emite just when she had Nick in her grasp. Carl told them that the Buzzers had been released into the city. They’d have Emim to fight off during their escape attempt.
