Mimi's House
Mimi's house is the original location Berg stays after moving to Talinas. After accepting a job housesitting for Mimi, and moving out of the city, Berg thinks he is closer to overcoming his addiction and restarting his life. While at Mimi's house, however, Berg relapses. Spending most of his time alone at Mimi's, the house seems to fuel and carry Berg's demons. Scenes when Nell comes to visit Berg, the house seems to change dimension, to possess the opportunity to renewal, a life beyond Berg's past and addiction.
The house is also the scene of the chicken attack near the beginning of the novel. When one of the chickens is gravely injured, instead of killing it, Berg cares for the chicken, nursing it back to health and slowly integrating it back into the coop with the other birds. These images act as a micro-representation of Berg's life...
