Deerwood

Deerwood is the town in Canada where the novel takes place and where Valancy lives with her family. Deerwood is also the area of town where most of the residents from the surrounding areas go to shop, see the doctor, and do things of a similar nature.

Mistawis

Mistawis is the area where Barney Snaith lives. Mistawis is where is a group of islands are inhabited by some residents. Barney purchases one of the these islands and lives in the house. It is the area that Barney and Valancy explore together after they are married and living in Barney's house together.
