Chapter 12 Summary

As Valancy heads home, the spell is upon her and she is in pain. She feels alone and wishes that someone, such as Barney Snaith, was with her to sympathize with her. It's difficult, but Valancy manages to give herself a dose of the medicine prescribed by Dr. Trent. Valncy makes a wish on the moon to have something of her own before she dies.

Chapter 12 Analysis

The chapter foreshadows that Valancy will find true love before she dies. Since one of her only options is with Barney Snaith, it foreshadows that Valancy thinking of him will make her pursue a relationship with him and the she will ultimately fall in love.
