Chapter 9 Summary
Mrs. Frederick and Cousin Stickles stared noticing the change in Valancy since the rosebush incident. The rest of the father starts to notice at the silver anniversary dinner for Aunt Alberta and Uncle Herbert. Mrs. Frederick continues to give Valancy the silent treatment until Valancy announces that she will no longer be attending the Anglican church, but will be going to the Presbyterian church instead. As Cousin Stickles, Mrs. Frederick and Valancy are walking to the dinner party, Roaring Abel, the other town drunk and Barney Snaith's father drives by them. Behind their backs, Valancy waves at Roaring Abel.
