Percy Jackson
Percy is the son of Poseidon, he is very talented. Percy can control water, talk to horses, make hurricanes, and on top of all that he can breathe underwater. He is an accomplished swordsman, fighting with his sword, Riptide, from his father. Percy has one fatal flaw: loyalty. At first he doesn’t understand how that could be a weakness, but soon comes to stop questioning it. Throughout all the books, Percy becomes more and more confident after several obstacles.
As a general rule, in this novel, Percy often feels inadequate as his water powers fail him and he is helpless to assist the others in his usual manner. This humbling experience gives him insight into many things, including allowing him to develop empathy for Annabeth and the others who suffer. He is also able to realize that he doesn't always have to rely on his 'superpowers'...
