Hazel Saltwater
Hazel Saltwater is the first person narrator of the novel. In the narrative present she is middle-aged, and attempting to rewrite her father's version of the novel by the same name. After losing her husband, Vik, in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Hazel is uncertain how to confront her grief and reconcile with her husband's death. Writing The Blizzard Party in her own words is her attempt to make sense of who she is and what she has experienced.
