Chapters 20-21 Summary
Bosch arrives in Calexico and takes a spare gun to the local cops to sign in to protect himself should he need his gun while in Mexico. From there, Bosch goes to the hotel he plans to stay, planning to check in and then go on to Mexicali. However, Bosch finds a list of messages waiting for him from his superior and Irving. Bosch calls one of the detectives on the desk and asks what the situation is. Bosch is told that Porter's body was found at a landfill. It appears that Porter was killed at a bottle club and dumped inside a Dumpster before landing at the landfill. Bosch realizes that Porter must have been killed while he was getting them coffee.
