Summary
In “Do You Remember Me?”, Galip and the group of storytellers leave the nightclub. The bald man leads the group away from the club to go somewhere new. On the way, he asks Galip a bunch of questions about Jelal and his apartments. They arrive at Master Bedii’s underground mannequin factory that Jelal had written about in his article. The grandson of the original shows them in and takes them on a tour, explaining the history of the hundreds of mannequins. There are mannequins of politicians, celebrities, historical figures, and everyday people scattered through the underground city. A mannequin of Jelal is there, and the guide explains how he betrayed the family by having “sold out for cheap success” (165). As the group continues on, Galip stays with Jelal’s mannequin.
