Summary

On the night of Meg’s challenge in Chapter 15, Diana meets Ann, Katrina, and Gwyneth at the witch’s tree. After confirming Diana’s readiness, they wish her good luck. Diana steps into the Crossroads and finds Meg. The two start battling, with Diana using Dickinson poems to weave new spells while trying to maintain balance between dark and light. Eventually, Diana repairs the threads linked to a shade that looks like her before calling asking help from the Owl Queen who intercepts one of Meg’s attacks.

Then, Naomi appears as a shade wrapped in a fraying circlet, and Diana realizes Naomi is actually trapped Elsewhere. Diana repairs all ten of the circlet’s knots and Naomi vanishes as birds welcome her spirit home. When Diana washes away the dark magic, a path appears, leading her to a large owl...
