Summary
In Chapter 29, Amanda recounts her “meeting with Koshoo Jackson” (87). Catherine invited him over for dinner. Amanda knew it was a setup. He complimented Amanda repeatedly. He told her about his work making braided belts. He gave her a belt, which he took back. Amanda snuck it out of his pocket later on. When he left, Catherine scolded Amanda for being rude. Ernest said Amanda handled herself “real well” (92).
In Chapter 30, Catherine appears over Amanda “in the peacock chair,” informing her she dreams with her “eyes open” (93).
