Summary

In Chapter 6, Lady Aisha tells Fatima she is hurt Fatima is leaving. Fatima begs her to let them go, as she knows Aisha does not believe Hassan is a sorcerer. Hassan then realizes Vikram is the vampire from childhood stories. Vikram assures him he is real. Finally Aisha agrees to free them, telling Vikram to go with the them. In parting, she gives Fatima her ruby ring.

In Chapter 7, Vikram leads them out of the tunnel, telling them to hurry though they are both tired. Once outside, Vikram tells them to wash in the river to mask their scent. Fatima gets annoyed with Vikram's many instructions. As they continue walking, Fatima asks Vikram about his relationship with Aisha. He says he was in love with her before she married the previous sultan, and tried convincing her to run away with him.
