Chapters 21-23 and Epilogue Summary

Chapter 21. Amanda, Frank, and Lynn wait most of the night for Jared to come out of surgery. When he does, they are told that all went well and Jared is expected to survive. Amanda sends Frank and Lynn home and she goes to sit with Jared, who remains unconscious. The next morning, Amanda is kicked out of ICU while the nurses change Jared's catheter. When Amanda returns, she is barred from reentering. When the doctor finally comes out, he tells Amanda that Jared had a massive heart attack and will die unless they can get him on the heart transplant list and a heart is found quickly.
