Chapters 1-2 Summary

Chapter 1. Dawson Cole is a forty-two year old man. Dawson works on oil rigs off the coast of Louisiana. He has survived many accidents on the oil rigs. However, none were as bad as an explosion that threw him across the deck and into the water. Dawson should have died from the fall alone, but was lucky to survive. In the water he became disoriented and might have drowned if a strange man he had never seen before did not lead him to a piece of debris to hold on to and into an area where he would be seen by the rescue ship.
