New York City
The majority of the action is set in New York City where a group of young women meet through their jobs and become friends. The city is exciting to them in some ways but each of them seeks the settled life of marriage more than the excitement of the city. There are specific places described, such as the Fabian Publications offices, the shopping district including outside Tiffany's, several apartment and bars, and Eddie's hotel. Each place has a level of realism that makes the story more credible.
