Durham, North Carolina
The City of Durham, North Carolina during the 1960’s is the setting for this work of non-fiction During this time the city was an epic-center of the Civil Rights Movement. The events that took place in Durham had a tremendous impact on the direction of black rights and desegregation movements in cities throughout the United States. The dramas played out in Durham on the streets, in restaurants, at City Hall and in the public schools attracted national and international media attention. Indeed, the whole world was watching. It is important to recognize that Ann Atwater and C.P Ellis were on this major stage which greatly added to the significance of their relationship.
