Summary
In Chapter 14, it's Friday. Toby tells Ezra that he insisted on driving Cassidy home because he wants to warn Ezra about her. He says she toys with boys, pretends to be serious, and then hurts them. Ezra spends his weekend doing homework. On Sunday evening, Cassidy uses a light to signal “hi” in Morse code. Ezra answers but the conversation dies there.
Members of the debate team practice with Cassidy and Toby critiquing. Ezra can't decide if she's no longer mad about being forced into the tournament or if she's just hiding it. Each night, Cassidy flashes the light to signal “hi.” Ezra wants their relationship to grow but nothing changes.
