Summary
In Chapter 4, Ezra has a class schedule that's different from most of the athletes. He has trouble with stairs but refuses to get an elevator key. Ezra is late for his first class. As he's leaving, a new girl approaches him, asking if Ezra can show her the way to the next class. Ezra, knowing he'll be late, refuses. In American Literature class, the teacher shows “The Great Gatsby.” When the movie reaches the car crash scene, everyone stares at Ezra. He says his classmates seem “fascinated and terrified,” and that he feels he no longer belongs.
Ezra avoids his former friends at lunch time and later says it's as if he's lost the part of him that liked being with them.
In Spanish, the students are paired up to interview each other. Ezra winds up with the new girl and learns her...
